“Here We Go!” – Major Arsenal Transfer News As Romano Confirms Player Has Agreed Three Year Deal

Arsenal midfielder Jorginho will join Flamengo this summer, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.

The Italian international’s move to Brazil has been on the cards for several months but, yesterday evening, Romano issued confirmation that he has agreed to sign a three-year contract ahead of the switch at the end of the season:

Jorginho joined Arsenal from Chelsea for £12m during the January 2023 transfer window and he has played 78 times for the Gunners.

Mikel Arteta’s side did have the option to extend his contract for another 12 months, but he is now set to leave on a free transfer in July.

Jorginho should return to fitness before Arsenal’s last game

The 33-year-old suffered a lung injury during the 1-1 draw against Brentford last month, but it is believed that he is close to returning to full training.

While Jorginho may not feature against Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday evening, he could well return to the bench for the match versus Liverpool this weekend.

Arsenal have already found his replacement

It is believed that the Gunners have reached an agreement to sign Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad. The 26-year-old has a €60m (£51m) release clause in his contract, which the London club are expected to trigger.

Zubimendi has many similar traits to Jorginho. He likes to play in a deep-lying midfield position and he possesses an excellent passing range. There have been suggestions that Real Madrid could look to hijack the deal but all the signs point towards him securing his move to the Emirates over the coming weeks.
