Arsenal have “inquired” about PSV winger Johan Bakayoko, according to Eindhovens Dagblad reporter Rik Elfrink.
Taking to X, the journalist said a bid has not been tabled for the Belgian international so far and it remains to be seen whether the Gunners will firm up their interest:
“Arsenal have inquired about PSV striker Johan Bakayoko. But according to those involved, there is certainly no offer yet to take action. And given the presence of Bukayo Saka, the question is whether it is the perfect next step for him. Finish the European Championship first. Then more [could happen].”
Supporters believe Bakayoko could well be a good addition to Mikel Arteta’s squad:
He will be a good back up for Saka

Left Footed RW… so good competition and depth for Saka. Saka can’t play every 3 days forever. We’re lucky he’s dodging injuries for now

How much would Bakayoko cost?
Reports in the Dutch media suggest that PSV want as much as €50m (£42m) for the 21-year-old, which looks a bit steep. Arsenal would hope to bring down that asking price significantly for them to go ahead with a transfer.
Although the Gunners are keen on strengthening their options out wide, it would be a surprise if they spent that much on a backup option for Bukayo Saka.
Will Arsenal have competition for the winger?
It is believed that Liverpool have also considered making a move for Bakayoko but, like the Gunners, they have not decided whether to make a formal offer at this stage.
As Elfrink points out, any deal is unlikely to take place before Belgium’s participation at the Euros comes to an end.
