Arsenal Join Tottenham And Crystal Palace In Race For £20m Championship Wonderkid

Arsenal are reportedly keen to sign Sunderland midfielder, and brother of Real Madrid star Jude, Jobe Bellingham.

Bellingham, 19, has been subject to heavy transfer interest early on in his career after showing a lot of potential at both Birmingham City and Sunderland.

The attacking midfielder has made 23 appearances in the Championship this season, scoring four goals and three assists. He has become a mainstay in Regis Le Bris’ starting XI, which at the age of 19, demonstrates his talent.

According to The Standard, Arsenal have identified Bellingham as a possible target to improve their depth in attacking areas. A natural centre-midfielder, the Sunderland man likes to get forward and create chances, pulling the strings in Le Bris’ midfield.

The Gunners could be set to lose two midfielders in the summer as Jorginho and Thomas Partey‘s contracts are both set to expire, meaning that Arteta could be pushed to make a move for Bellingham sooner rather than later.

Reports suggest that Sunderland would be willing to accept a £20m bid for Bellingham, a price that Arsenal would easily be able to match.

Arsenal face Premier League competition to sign Bellingham

The Gunners aren’t the only Premier League side to show an interest in signing Jobe Bellingham, as Tottenham and Crystal Palace have also been linked.

Palace would be able to provide Bellingham with the promise of more regular game time compared to the Gunners and Spurs, who would likely provide more financial benefits and prospects for the future.

Going by the relatively cheap price considering his potential, all three clubs would likely move for Bellingham, so the decision may end up lying with him regarding his future.

Arteta wants to add attacking talent in January

The Gunners have been linked with several attackers ahead of and during the current transfer window, with one name being Wolves star Matheus Cunha.

However, reports are saying that the attacker is close to signing a new contract at Molineux, although it could have a clause attached allowing him to leave, should Wolves face relegation to the Championship.

Arsenal have also been linked with Atalanta striker Mateo Retegui, who has scored 14 goals in all competitions this season. He is expected to cost around £45m.
