“Looks Like The Real Deal” – Dwight Yorke Claims Arsenal Should Sign £50M Striker Who Chelsea Pursued In The Summer

Former Aston Villa striker Dwight Yorke believes Jhon Duran would be a great signing for Arsenal.

The Gunners did not buy a No.9 during the summer transfer window but, speaking to Prime Casino, Yorke said the Duran has the potential to be a top player:

“He looks a real handful and a bit different from the rest. He’s got that good presence about him. I would take a chance on him, he looks like the real deal.”

“What I look for is people who are hungry, and he’s got that. In terms of the big boys, Arsenal haven’t got an outstanding No. 9.”

Duran is turning heads with his performances for Villa this season

The Colombian international grabbed the headlines after scoring the winner for his club against Bayern Munich in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

Duran chipped the keeper to seal a famous 1-0 win for the Villans. It was his 6th goal of the season, despite the fact that he has spent barely 300 minutes on the pitch across all competitions.

Arsenal may have to contend with other Premier League clubs if they want the forward

Duran’s talent has not gone unnoticed. Both Chelsea and West Ham tried to sign the player during the last transfer window.

Villa were reportedly willing to sell the 20-year-old but no team was willing to pay £50m for him at the time. Considering his lightning start to the campaign, his club may demand an even higher fee now.

Whether Arsenal will seriously consider him as a target may depend on several factors. They were prepared to spend big on Benjamin Sesko earlier in the summer, only for the player to sign a new contract with RB Leipzig.

The Slovenian international remains on the Gunners’ radar, though, and there is a chance they could make another attempt to buy him, rather than pursue a move for Duran.
