The right-back was turning heads with the number of goals and assists he was providing for Leverkusen last campaign.
In all competitions, Frimpong scored nine times, whilst also setting up 11 others in 48 appearances.
Those numbers are more akin to a winger than a defender, and it should be pointed out that the 22-year-old did play the majority of the season as a wingback.
Even so, it is an impressive return, which clearly has grabbed the attention of Arteta and the Gunners’ recruitment team.
