‘In The Last Few Hours’ – Report Confirms Arsenal have Joined Clubs Plotting Raid For French Starlet

Arsenal are one of five clubs weighing up moves for Angers attacking midfielder Jean-Matteo Bahoya this month, according to L’Equipe.

The French publication claims that a number of teams have made ‘advances in the last few hours’ to ascertain the availability of the 18-year-old.

Bahoya has begun to start on a regular basis for Angers, despite his young age, having scored 5 goals and provided 2 assists in 19 league appearances this campaign.

It should be pointed out that he is currently playing in France’s second tier, but his displays have clearly stood out enough to attract the interest of Arsenal’s scouts as well as other clubs.

There will be competition for Bahoya

L’Equipe report that Serie A giants AC Milan have been monitoring the teenager for a while, but Bundesliga sides Eintracht Frankfurt and Stuttgart have also been keeping a watchful eye on his progress.

Arsenal and an unnamed French club have been “attentive” to Bahoya’s performances as well, and there is a decent chance that the Gunners or another interested team could make a move for the player before the January transfer window closes.

What do Arsenal fans need to know about the midfielder?

Although Bahoya has played most of his football as a No.10, Angers manager Alexandre Dujeux has decided to use him mostly as a left winger or striker so far this campaign.

He is right-footed, so his preference is to cut in from the flank and shoot if he is given the opportunity to do so. Considering his lack of experience at the highest level, Bahoya would probably need to be loaned out to another club who are playing in a top division before getting first-team opportunities for Arsenal.
