REPORT: Arsenal Have Had ‘Second Bid Rejected’ For Striker

Arsenal’s attempts to sign Blackburn Rovers forward Igor Tyjon have hit the buffers, according to reports.

The Athletic claim that the Gunners have had a “second bid rejected” for the 17-year-old, who has been turning heads with his performances for Blackburn.

Mikel Arteta’s side made an offer in the region of £1m for Tyjon, which was knocked back last month.

However, it appears that an improved proposal was lodged as the club looked to bring in a promising young striker to their academy.

They have already been unsuccessful in a move for Salford City’s Will Wright. Despite agreeing a fee for the youngster, it is believed he preferred to remain in the North West. He ended up joining Liverpool instead.

It does appear that, after failing to land Wright, Arsenal went back in for Tyjon, and it remains to be seen whether they will table a third bid.

What do Arsenal fans need to know about Tyjon?

As you may have guessed from his name, the teenager has Polish roots, and he has played for both England and Poland at youth level. He is currently in the Three Lions’ Under-17 squad.

For Blackburn, Tyjon has already impressed for the club’s Under 21s, scoring 4 goals in just 7 Premier League 2 appearances last campaign.

Rovers also handed him his senior debut last year. He came on in the closing minutes of the 3-0 win over Bristol City back in September.

Manager Valerien Ismael then gave Tyjon another opportunity off the substitutes’ bench against Sunderland in April. The forward replaced Cauley Woodrow with 5 minutes to go during the 1-0 victory.

Tyjon started the last pre-season friendly against NEC Nijmegen last weekend, and he could very well feature in the first Championship fixture against West Bromwich Albion on Saturday.
