Arsenal fans have been reacting to the news that the Gunners are reportedly interested in signing Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike rather than Benjamin Sesko or Viktor Gyokeres.
Signing a striker is the big headline of Arsenal’s transfer window, as virtually everyone was saying that they needed one last year. Instead, they didn’t bring in a number nine, and played Kai Havertz up front instead.
Since the season ended, it had been reported that Arsenal are interested in both Benjamin Sesko and Viktor Gyokeres, and felt as though they were going to sign one of those two options.
However, now, according to a report by German news outlet BILD, Hugo Ekitike has emerged as a serious contender for the Gunners instead of Sesko or Gyokeres. The Frenchman has also been linked with Chelsea and Man United in the past. Arsenal fans took to social media to react to the news…
That reads as if they view Sesko and Gyokeres more as back up to Havertz ,who in Arteta’s view will still be the 1st choice. As I suspected, our attacking play will not change a great deal next season. We’ll just have a stronger bench. Not winning a title with that approach.

Do they know that Frankfurt want nearly 100m for him?
He’s not worth that

It is turning out to be a shambolic window and signing him would be disastrous

You gotta be joking yeah?🙄

So, is he the backup option if we can’t get either of Gyökeres or Šeško? I thought Watkins was if this is true?

I just watched a very little portion of his comps. It think he moves genuinely like Thierry Henry.
And it’s no jokes. In the right system, with the right manager, the guy could blossom.
So if he’s the one, hmmm…

Ngl I rate him more than sesko but don’t think he’s better than gyokeres

Why Arsenal haven’t signed Sesko or Gyokeres yet
All the talk surrounding Sesko, is that the Slovenian international’s wage demands are nowhere near what Arsenal wanted to pay, so the talks with him have hit a stalemate.
Meanwhile, there is a grey area as to exactly how much Gyokeres could cost. He has an £85m release clause, but it is understood that Sporting would be willing to sell him for less. However, it isn’t clear as to how much the Gunners are willing to spend on him.
Ekitike doesn’t have a release clause, but it is has been said that Frankfurt want around £85m for him, which if that is the case, would make him the most expensive of the three.
