Arsenal Told Why Gyokeres Won’t Be Like Darwin Nunez Amid £64m Deal Agreed

Arsenal have been told by former Premier League striker Gabby Agbonlahor that Viktor Gyokeres should be a great signing for the Gunners.

Gyokeres coming to the Emirates has been a massive saga throughout the summer window so far, but with Fabrizio Romano finally providing a “here we go”, it seems as though the saga is over and Gyokeres will play for Arsenal next season for around £64m.

He only ever wanted the move to the Emirates, and the Gunners decided to pursue him over RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko, and so it now looks as though the Swedish international will head to Asia to join the Gunners on their pre-season tour.

Following a season where Arsenal finished second for the third time in a row. They were 10 points behind Liverpool, but crucially, scored 17 less goals. The addition of Gyokeres will hopefully provide Mikel Arteta with more goals, and in turn a Premier League title.

Agbonlahor shuts down Gyokeres and Nunez comparison

Former Premier League striker Gabby Agbonlahor has said that he believes Gyokeres is a great signing for the Gunners, and he has every reason to believe that the 27-year-old will find success at the Emirates, despite many pundits having doubts.

Agbonlahor said on talkSPORT: “He’s 27 years of age. That’s it’s go time straight away. Okay, it’s not, ‘he needs a season to bed in and get used to the Premier League.’

“During his time at Coventry, he got 40 [goals] in 97 games. Solid. still learning. 97 goals in 102 games for Sporting and some people try and use the [Darwin] Nunez example. Nunez got 48 in 85 okay, so his records a lot better than Nunez was. Nunez near enough one [goal] in two. Gyokeres is nearly one [goal] in one.”

“He’s showing that he’s going to be better option than Nunez was [for Liverpool]. What I like about it, when I’ve seen him, is he could hold that ball up and he will get in that box. How many times last season did you watch Arsenal every game, big games, Saka putting balls in, Martinelli putting balls in and then Havertz, or other strikers that were playing haven’t got that clinical edge of where to be at the right time.”
