Fabrizio Romano Says He Is “Sure” That Arsenal Will Look To Make 2 Signings Happen This Month

Arsenal are keen to sign a fullback and a striker during the January transfer window, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.

The Gunners are limited in what they can do due to Financial Fair Play and Romano says that means the London club are currently struggling to find the right solutions.

“They haven’t found a good or a normal option at the moment, all of the players they like are either very expensive or not on the market like Ivan Toney or Victor Osimhen. I am sure they will try for a full-back and I am sure they will try for a striker.”

It seems as if Arsenal will make every effort to bring in a least 2 signings this month but the lack of resources mean they may only be loan deals or low-cost transfers.

What fullbacks could Arsenal pursue?

Reports in both Germany and Spain have suggested that the Gunners are interested in Bayer Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong but his £34m release clause only becomes active in the summer.

There are alternatives. Two players based in Turkey, Galatasaray’s Sacha Boey and Fenerbahce’s Ferdi Kadioglu, have been mentioned as targets in recent days and they could be available relatively cheaply.

What strikers could be signed in January?

As Romano mentions, Arsenal can’t afford to sign the likes of Toney or Osimhen this month so they will be looking at more economical options. There have been links to Getafe’s Borja Mayoral in the English media this week, with a bid of £22m reportedly being made, but those rumours have already been dismissed.

Other possible targets for Mikel Arteta’s side could include players such as Feyenoord’s Santiago Gimenez, Salernitana’s Boulaye Dia and RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko.
