“Keep An Eye…” – Sky Journalist Confirms Arsenal Are Working On Fourth Summer Signing

Arsenal are planning to go into the market again this summer, according to Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth.

After spending £200m+ on Kai Havertz, Jurrien Timber and Declan Rice, there was an assumption that the club’s transfer business may be over but comments made by manager Mikel Arteta on the club’s pre-season tour of the United States suggest more incomings are expected. Following up on those remarks, Sheth said that the Gunners are targeting a move for a right winger, as long as funds are raised through sales:

“I’ve just been told to keep an eye on the attacking side of the pitch, particularly on the right side as well. Remember a couple of summers ago they tried to sign Raphinha (last summer) – he ended up going to Barcelona.”

“They’re also interested in Moussa Diaby from Bayer Leverkusen. I know Aston Villa have had a bid rejected for him as well, so that may be an area just to keep an eye on. It would require now a few departures and money to be recouped.”

Diaby has been on Arsenal’s radar for quite some time but it’s likely that the club will consider alternatives to the Frenchman.

The main reason for that is down to Villa’s interest. The Midlands club have already got the approval of the player and they have now submitted a second offer reportedly worth €50m (£43m). With the Gunners not currently in a position to make a bid of their own, there is a good chance that the winger will no longer be on the market by the time they have the funds needed to buy him.

Have Arsenal been linked with other wingers?

Reports in the Brazilian media over the past couple of weeks have suggested that Gremio’s Bitello is being scouted by the Gunners, although it should be said that the 23-year-old is not a natural wide player, having been mostly deployed in central midfield positions over the course of his career so far.

Others options, such as Leicester’s Harvey Barnes and Villarreal’s Samuel Chukwueze, have only been tentatively put forward as possible targets for Arteta’s side.

While it seems like Arsenal are keen to do more business before the transfer window slams shut next month, fans may have to be patient. Sales are now the focus, and it may be late into August before the club are ready to bring in more recruits.
