“I Don’t Care” – £38M Rated Arsenal Target Issues Blunt Response Amid Claims He Has Been Transfer Listed

Barcelona winger Ferran Torres has declared that he is staying at Camp Nou despite speculation that he could be sold by the La Liga champions.

The former Manchester City player faced Arsenal in a friendly on Wednesday, with the Gunners having been recently linked with a move for the Spaniard. However, when asked about his future at Barca, Torres said he wasn’t interested in joining another team:

“The names on [the] Barca transfer list are placed by the journalists. I have a contract here, I’m going to stay. I don’t care what is said about me. I’m going to work like anyone else.”

“I am the first self-critic, it was not a good season last year but I learned a lot. These ups and downs have helped me to be stronger now.”

Arsenal are eyeing a move for Torres

Italian TV network Sport Mediaset have recently claimed that the 23-year-old is the “next name” on Mikel Arteta’s list of transfer targets.

They suggest that Barcelona would be willing to sell Torres if they receive a fee in the region of €44m (£38m).

A new right winger is being targeted

The Gunners are known to be keen on recruiting competition for Bukayo Saka but, based on Torres’s remarks, he won’t be the one moving to the Emirates this summer.

Crystal Palace’s Michael Olise, Ajax’s Mohammed Kudus and Montpellier’s Elye Wahi are some of the other forwards that the London club have been linked with in recent weeks.

However, out of those three, Olise would be the best fit to play on the right flank. With the Frenchman reportedly having a £35m release clause as well, Arsenal may seriously consider pursuing his signature.

For the time being, though, the focus will be on selling players. Mikel Arteta has spoken out to say the current squad is too big so fans should expect some outgoings before any further additions this summer.
