Arsenal have initiated discussions with Paris Saint-Germain about signing Fabian Ruiz, according to journalist Duncan Castles.
The midfielder was one of Spain’s best players as they won the European Championship earlier this month.
It would be a surprise if PSG were open to letting Ruiz leave, and supporters on X are split on whether they believe the Gunners’ interest is genuine:

Signing Ruiz would be a massive coup
Manager Mikel Arteta is said to be keen on adding reinforcements in the middle of the park. The club has been regularly linked with Real Sociedad pair Martin Zubimendi and Mikel Merino, who were also in Spain’s Euro 2024 squad.
However, Ruiz would arguably be a significant upgrade on those two players. He was named in the team of the tournament for his displays in Germany.
Arsenal would need to sell first
Castles claims any deal is dependent on raising funds through player sales. Otherwise, the Gunners may have to offer a loan deal, with an obligation to buy next summer, similar to the agreement that the club struck with Brentford for David Raya last year.
However, a move for Ruiz could be partially funded by Emile Smith Rowe, who is expected to complete his switch to Fulham soon. Arsenal could have an additional £35m to spend in the very near future.
