Fabrizio Romano Confirms Arsenal Striker Agrees Deal To Leave The Club

Fabrizio Romano has confirmed on X that Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah has agreed to join French Ligue 1 club Marseille.

The Gunner has agreed personal terms with the French club, however, Arsenal and Marseille are yet to come to an agreement over a transfer fee.

Nketiah has been at the Emirates all his career despite a brief loan spell at Leeds United between August 2019 and January 2020.

He has scored 38 goals for the Gunners in 168 appearances and despite being somewhat of a teenage prodigy at one stage, he failed to find consistent game time.

The English striker can play both upfront or on the wing and has made several substitute appearances in various positions during his time at Arsenal.

Nketiah is only 25 and so has a chance to develop still into the world-class striker that many Arsenal fans envisaged when he was a youngster.

Arsenal and Marseille have yet to agree on a fee for Nketiah

Despite the player agreeing personal terms with Marseille, the Gunners are yet to accept an offer from the French side. Nketiah’s market value is estimated to be £29 million.

However, according to the Athletic, Marseille has offered the Gunners a fee of around £17 million, which is unlikely to be enough to secure the striker’s services.

Arsenal has set Nketiah’s asking price at a hefty £50 million which means that Mikel Arteta clearly values the attacker and is keen on holding onto him.

Nketiah attracting Premier League interest

Not only does Marseille want Nketiah, but he has attracted interest from several Premier League clubs too.

Football London reported that Crystal Palace and Wolves are keen on the Gunner. However, given that Nketiah has personally agreed terms with Marseille, then Palace and Wolves will have to act fast to land him.
