Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah has agreed personal terms with Nottingham Forest over a move before the transfer deadline in nine days.
The 25-year-old has been subject to transfer interest from several clubs this summer with Forest the latest to swoop in for the attacker.
According to the Standard, Nketiah has held positive talks with the Reds and a £25m bid was already rejected by Arsenal who are hoping to get at least £30m for the striker.
Nketiah is reportedly open to the idea of moving to the City Ground as it guarantees him playing time in the Premier League, something that he’s not had at Arsenal.
He has been with the Gunners all his career after coming through the academy at the Emirates. The English striker has made 168 appearances for Arsenal scoring 38 goals.
Arsenal received offers from several clubs for Nketiah
Forest isn’t the first Premier League team to express their interest in Nketiah as Bournemouth was also keen on his signature. However, since selling Dominic Solanke, the Cherries signed Evanilson from Porto to replace Solanke, so have dropped their interest in Nketiah.
Furthermore, it looked all but certain for Eddie Nketiah to move to French Ligue 1 side Marseille who agreed personal terms with the 25-year-old earlier in the window.
However, the deal fell through and Forest is now the most likely destination for the attacker.
Mikel Arteta’s lack of depth up front
If Eddie Nketiah does depart the Emirates, Mikel Arteta will have two forwards at his disposal in Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz and could do with more depth.
The Gunners have been linked to several strikers this summer including Victor Osimhen alongside Chelsea, Viktor Gyokeres and Ivan Toney, however, it seems as though Mikel Arteta is going to stick with Havertz and Jesus.
Only time will tell if it is the correct decision or not.
