Arsenal have reportedly identified Atalanta attacker Ademola Lookman as a target if they miss out on signing Eberechi Eze this summer.
The Gunners have added a lot of talent in attack; Viktor Gyokeres and Noni Madueke are both expected to make big impacts for Mikel Arteta, but the Arsenal boss still wants more before the window is up.
He would like an attacking midfielder, and a left winger; the winger target being Real Madrid star Rodrygo, who could reportedly join Arsenal in a swap deal as the La Liga club want to sign Gunners centre-back William Saliba.
However, they also want to sign Eze from Crystal Palace, who has a £68m release clause in his contract. It is unlikely that a deal would fall through for Eze seeing as reports have said he wants the move. However, if it was to fail, and Arsenal lost out on the England international, they would need to consider alternative targets to go after.
Arsenal eyeing Lookman as Eze alternative
One player who has been linked with Arsenal in the past is Atalanta and former Everton attacker Ademola Lookman, who has been subject to a lot of transfer interest this summer, following an excellent year for Atalanta.
Lookman made 40 appearances for the Serie A side last season, managing to score 20 goals, and provide seven assists. He was no doubt one of the best players in the Italian top division, so it is no surprise that he is in demand.
Inter Milan have already seen bids rejected for Lookman this summer, as they have offered as much as £40m, with Atalanta demanding a fee of at least £45m for the Nigerian international.
However, according to the Sun, Arsenal now view Lookman as an alternative should they miss out on Eze, as he would be a cheaper, but still effective option instead of the England international. The report also states that a move for Lookman to join Arsenal could also be on the cards if the Gunners were to sell Leandro Trossard this summer amid interest in the Belgian winger.
