£5.2M Rated Teenager ‘Almost Certainly Leaving’ Club Next Month With Arsenal Leading 3 Team Transfer Battle

Arsenal are favourites to sign NK Kustosija forward Dino Klapija during the January transfer window, according to Index.hr.

The website claims that the 16-year-old is “almost certainly leaving” the Croatian third division side, with the Gunners the “most interested” in securing his signature.

However, despite playing for a relatively modest team, Klapija’s fee could be as high as €6m (£5.2m) due to the competition for his signature.

Index.hr report that the likes of Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig could get involved in the “race” for the teenager’s services, pushing up his asking price.

Arsenal have been watching the player for several months

Back at the end of October, it was reported in the English media that Mikel Arteta’s side had sent scouts to watch the striker in action on a number of occasions.

At the time, both Manchester United and Chelsea were also linked with Klapija but it appears as if Arsenal are the only Premier League team left in contention to sign the player.

What do Arsenal fans need to know about Klapija?

The Croatian youth international was actually born in the United States, and he started life out at New York City’s academy before he made the switch to Dinamo Zagreb back in March.

However, Klapija’s stay with the Croatian champions was short-lived as he joined Kustosija at the start of July to continue his development.

The forward is strong on both feet, whilst also possessing a good deal of pace. Combined with the fact that he is clinical in front of goal, and is good at taking set-pieces, many believe that he has all the tools to go very far in the professional game.

It is now up to the Gunners to agree a fee with Klapija’s club so they can secure the transfer ahead of their rivals next month.
