William Saliba Warned Over Squad Place As £13m Signing Wants To “Create Competition”

New Arsenal signing Cristhian Mosquera has told the Gunners that he wants to “create competition” in defence after joining.

The Gunners have added several players this summer, including the likes of Martin Zubimendi, Christian Norgaard, Noni Madueke and Cristhian Mosquera.

Furthermore, they are close to landing Viktor Gyokeres as he is in London to complete his move to Arsenal this weekend. The 27-year-old will finally fill the void at the striker position that the Gunners have been trying to fill for several years.

Mosquera is perhaps one of the most exciting signings however, as the 21-year-old has joined for just £13m, despite being one of the best defenders in La Liga last season. The Gunners have secured a bargain deal for a very exciting talent.

Last season, Mosquera played the second-most minutes of any outfield player in La Liga…at the age of 21. He is sure to provide some competition for the likes of Gabriel and William Saliba at centre-back.

Mosquera sends Saliba warning after joining Arsenal

The defender spoke with Arsenal’s Official Website after his signing was announced yesterday, and he made it very clear that he doesn’t intend to just sit on the bench.

He said: “There’s been a lot of hard work behind all of this. It’s an opportunity that came up and I couldn’t let it pass me by. I’m joining a historic, massive club. When you arrive here with your family, you really feel the greatness of this place.”

“I’ll be working with great players and a top-class coaching staff, so that will help me develop personally. I’m a player with a lot of energy. I’m young, so I still have plenty to give. I’m fully motivated and excited. Above all, I want to improve, which will create competition within the squad. I’m really happy.”

Only time will tell as to whether Mosquera will prove to be the right man for the job, but he certainly has all the credentials to succeed.
