Arsenal have made a “very strong financial offer” to Manchester City captain Ilkay Gundogan, according to Sport.
The Catalan publication claims the Gunners have tried very hard to persuade the five-time Premier League winner to make the switch to the Emirates.
Gundogan’s current club, City, have also made a concerted effort to keep the player in recent weeks but he is thought to be dead set on leaving England.
Sport report that the 32-year-old “wants” to end his seven-year stay in the Premier League and try a “new experience” in Spain.
Gundogan’s future plans should become known very soon
The midfielder is expected to announce his decision after the Champions League final against Inter Milan next weekend.
Barca have reportedly been working on the deal since February, with manager Xavi said to have played an important role in persuading Gundogan.
It is believed that the German international will sign a two-year contract at the Camp Nou, with an option for another twelve months.
