REPORT: Arsenal Set To Battle Chelsea And Tottenham For £85 Million Attacker

Arsenal are reportedly ready to join the race to sign Borussia Dortmund attacker Jamie Gittens.

The Gunners failed to make a signing in January despite sending a bid to Aston Villa for striker Ollie Watkins.

It has left Mikel Arteta with few options in attacking areas with Gabriel Martinelli, Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz all out injured. The latter recently underwent successful surgery on his hamstring.

Due to their lack of depth up front, Arsenal are expected to add more players during the summer transfer window, with a striker and a winger both of priority. They had been linked with Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams and Brentford winger Bryan Mbeumo, but it seems the Gunners could turn their attention elsewhere.

Arsenal set to target Dortmund’s Gittens

According to a fresh report by German outlet BILD, Arsenal are keeping tabs on Borussia Dortmund winger Jamie Gittens and will consider making a move for the Englishman in the summer.

Gittens has made 33 appearances for Dortmund in all competitions this season, scoring 11 goals and contributing five assists. He is also under contract with the German side until 2028.

The report says that Dortmund values Gittens at a hefty £85 million, although with interest from several Premier League clubs, it doesn’t look like they will struggle to sell the former Man City academy player for that price.

Chelsea and Tottenham also want Gittens

Arsenal aren’t the only team in the Premier League that wants to bring Gittens back to England, as the report says that both Tottenham and Chelsea also hold an interest in the 20-year-old.

Chelsea have been linked with Gittens for some time now, and view the youngster as a future star in the Premier League.

However, they already have the likes of Noni Madueke, Jadon Sancho and Pedro Neto, and so may decide against adding a winger so soon.

Spurs could provide tough competition to sign Gittens as they have struggled for depth in attack this season due to injuries. Brennan Johnson, Wilson Odobert, Timo Werner and Heung-Min Son have all missed time.
