‘Why Would Arsenal Sign Such A Player?’ Never!’ Fans React As Club Plot Shock Move For 14 Goal Chelsea Ace

Arsenal are “expected” to be in contention to sign Chelsea forward Christopher Nkunku this summer, according to RMC Sport reporter Fabrice Hawkins.

The usually reliable journalist claims that the Gunners were interested in recruiting the 27-year-old during the January transfer window, along with Bayern Munich, and they are set to revive their pursuit at the end of the season.

Supporters on X are not particularly enthusiastic about the prospect of Nkunku making the switch across London:

Nkunku’s time in England has been blighted by injuries and poor form

There was a lot of fanfare when Chelsea snapped up the France international from RB Leipzig before the start of last season.

However, fitness problems curtailed Nkunku’s first year at Stamford Bridge. He has stayed fit for the majority of this campaign but his performances in the Premier League, in particular, have not been great.

The forward has only managed to find the back of the net 3 times in 27 league appearances.

Could Arsenal get more out of him?

It should be noted that this isn’t the first time that Gunners boss Mikel Arteta has looked to sign an underperforming player from Chelsea. Kai Havertz was recruited for £65m.

Nkunku’s situation is not necessarily dissimilar. He has actually scored 14 goals this season, but most of them have come in the Conference League and domestic cup competitions.

Arteta may simply feel he needs to be deployed in a different way to get the best out of him. It is definitely a transfer story to keep an eye on ahead of the next transfer window.
