“From What I Am Hearing” – Journalist Issues New Update On Arsenal And Chelsea Transfer Stance Following Isak Decision

Neither Arsenal nor Chelsea are expected to enter the race for Newcastle striker Alexander Isak as things stand, according to journalist Graeme Bailey.

Speaking to the Chelsea Chronicle, Bailey revealed that both the Gunners and Blues cooled their interest quite some time ago:

“Chelsea have long liked Alexander Isak, is he going to one of the options – possibly, but not from what I am hearing.”

“Chelsea, like Arsenal, both backed away a few months ago, I am told that they were both made aware that Isak was looking elsewhere, and that is seemingly Liverpool. Since then they haven’t stepped up.”

Arsenal have their new No.9

Viktor Gyokeres is set to be announced as Arsenal’s sixth signing of the summer transfer window imminently. The Gunners will pay £55m up front for the 27-year-old with another £8.7m in performance-related add-ons.

Mikel Arteta’s side announced the arrival of Cristhian Mosquera yesterday, having already brought in the likes of Christian Norgaard, Martin Zubimendi, Kepa Arrizabalaga and Noni Madueke in recent weeks.

Will the Gunners sign another forward this summer?

A move to Eberechi Eze is believed to be still in the works. Arteta is reportedly a massive fan of the England international and he is keen on bringing him in before the transfer window closes.

You can’t rule out a bid for Real Madrid’s Rodrygo either. The Brazilian is still weighing up whether he wants to leave the Bernabeu, having started just one game at the Club World Cup.

Due to the costs involved with recruiting the forward, though, it may require Gabriel Martinelli or Leandro Trossard to leave to make the transfer viable.

At the moment, it seems a bid for Eze is much more likely than an approach for Rodrygo but a lot could still happen between now and September 1st.
