Arsenal Named As One Of ‘5 Top Clubs’ Who Have Contacted Agent Of Serie A Striker – And It’s Not Osimhen

Arsenal are among “five top clubs” who have made contact with the agent of Salernitana striker Boulaye Dia, according to TMW.

The Italian website reports that there is expected to be an exodus of players from the Serie A club who are currently rooted to the bottom of the table.

Dia has been one of the few shining lights, having scored 4 goals in 11 league appearances, but he will be made available for transfer next month, along with most of his teammates.

TMW claim that Salernitana are likely to hold out for around €22m (£19m) for the Senegalese international, who only moved from Villarreal on a permanent basis last summer.

Who will Arsenal be competing with for Dia’s signature?

The Gunners will be battling at least, one other Premier League club, with Everton said to be keen on snapping up the forward in January.

AC Milan, Roma and Fiorentina are reportedly the three other teams involved in the race for Dia’s services.

Is Dia being eyed as competition for Gabriel Jesus?

Many supporters will be decidedly underwhelmed by the news that Arsenal are pursuing the 27-year-old. After reports in recent days indicating that the London club could pursue Napoli’s Victor Osimhen, signing the Salernitana forward instead would be classed as a major disappointment.

Dia could, though, be classed as a short-term solution, rather than a long-term fix, up front. With money expected to be tight in the January transfer window, the Gunners will have to cut their cloth accordingly.

It may be the case that Dia is signed to provide competition for Jesus until the end of the season, before a decision is made to go after someone like Osimhen.
