Journalist Reveals Surprise New Twist Following Claims That Arsenal Have Tabled £12M Bid

Galatasaray right-back Sacha Boey is “not an active target” for Arsenal, according to the Daily Express reporter Ryan Taylor.

Reports in the Turkish media have claimed that the Gunners had lodged a €14m (£12m) offer for the Frenchman but Taylor believes the fullback won’t be moving to the Emirates this summer:

There has been a lot of speculation regarding Arsenal’s interest in Boey but it appears that, if he does make the switch to England, he will be joining another Premier League team.

Arsenal are in the market for a right-back

Manager Mikel Arteta is said to be keen on providing some competition for Ben White on the right flank, especially as Takehiro Tomiyasu can’t be relied upon due to his injury problems.

If Boey is not under consideration then there are a number of other names that the London club could be targeting, Real Valladolid’s Ivan Fresneda is someone who has been regularly mentioned.

The Spaniard’s release clause has dropped to €20m (£17m), and there are even reports that he could be available for below that figure. Borussia Dortmund are, though, likely to be Arsenal’s main rival for his signature.

Other right-back options

Both Wolfsburg’s Ridle Baku and Ajax’s Devyne Rensch have also been linked in recent months, but Manchester City’s Joao Cancelo is the player that many journalists feel is the one that the Gunners would most like to sign.

However, the Portuguese international is expected to cost in excess of £60m and there are doubts over whether the defender is prepared to stay in the UK if he leaves the Etihad in the coming weeks.
