Arsenal are weighing up a move for Bayern Munich defender Benjamin Pavard, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Gunners are looking at potential replacements for Jurrien Timber, who is expected to be sidelined for most of the season with an ACL injury.
There was a mixed reaction to the news that Arsenal are interested in Pavard among supporters on X:
It’s a big yes for me.

Not really good enough and with only one year left in his contract, he won’t come on loan like a few want. Would rather get someone good in than just a short term option who could create problems later on

Experienced, versatile, grew amongst serial winners and will likely be a back up. It’s a yes for me

Pavard would certainly help Arsenal replace Timber
The 27-year-old has played the majority of his games as a right-back in recent seasons, but he is just as comfortable at centre-half.
For that reason, Pavard would be ideal cover for Timber while the Dutchman is sidelined. There are other options that could be considered, such as RB Leipzig’s Mohamed Simakan, Real Valladolid’s Ivan Fresneda and Southampton’s Kyle Walker-Peters so a decision on who to go after may come down to price and availability.
He is a player in demand
Arsenal are not the only team interested in the France international, with Inter Milan and Manchester United also believed to be keen on securing the player’s services.
Pavard has less than a year left on his contract at Bayern and he is not looking to sign an extension so a departure before the end of the transfer window is likely. His price could come down dramatically the closer we get to deadline day so the Gunners may bide their time.
