Arsenal and Newcastle are reportedly interested in signing a Real Madrid attacker, but the La Liga club have handed them a blow.
Mikel Arteta will be delighted with his side in the early part of the season, they are at the top of the Premier League table, and the favourites to win the league over rivals Liverpool, who have lost their last three games in all competitions.
The Arsenal boss will be keen to get to the January transfer window at the top of the table, and ready to add to his already deep and talented squad. Reports have suggested that Arsenal are keen on Real Madrid attacker Arda Guler to improve their squad in January.
20-year-old attacker Guler has made eight La Liga appearances for Xabi Alonso so far this season, scoring three goals, and providing three assists, regularly featuring alongside Kylian Mbappe in Alonso’s attack. Newcastle are also reportedly keen on the attacker, as they plan to use some of the Alexander Isak profits to invest in their attack.
Journalist says it’s “nearly impossible” for Arsenal to sign Guler
Amid the Gunners’ reported interest in the Turkish international, Football Insider Journalist Pete O’Rourke has said that it will be very tough for both Arsenal and Newcastle to sign Guler, as Real Madrid wants to keep hold of him.
O’Rourke said: “I would say it’s probably nearly impossible to sign Arda Guler in January. He’s become more instrumental in the Real Madrid team since the appointment of Xabi Alonso. He’s obviously got the trust of Xabi Alonso. He’s been picked ahead of some of the other real big names in that Real Madrid team.
“Real Madrid are not going to weaken their squad in January because they will be competing for silverware on all fronts, La Liga, Champions League and everything else. So yeah, don’t think there’ll be any possibility of Guler leaving. And as I said, I think he’s establishing himself as a key man.”
Guler has an estimated market value of £52m, and that’s a figure that will only increase as he continues to carve a role out for himself in Alonso’s Real Madrid side.
