Arsenal are weighing up a move for Club Brugge winger Andreas Skov Olsen, according to CaughtOffside.com.
The website reports that the Gunners are “keeping a watching brief” on the Danish international, who has started the season in impressive form for his club.
Olsen has scored 2 goals in his first 5 league appearances for Club Brugge, having also caught the eye last campaign, hitting the back 26 times in 50 matches.
Beyond his scoring ability, the fact that he is left-footed and prefers to play down the right flank means he could provide competition for Bukayo Saka.
Manager Mikel Arteta has been looking for a player who can take some of the burden off the England international and Olsen could be happy being a backup option.
A move for Olsen may be dependent on a player leaving
Arsenal are currently restricted in what they can do in terms of transfers due to the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability rules.
Reports suggest that Olsen may only cost between €25m (£21m) and €30m (£25m) but the Gunners may need a sale to finance a bid.
The likeliest candidate is Eddie Nketiah. The 25-year-old has already agreed personal terms ahead of a potential £30m transfer to Crystal Palace.
Could Arsenal also sign a striker?
As Olsen would not be a like-for-like replacement for Nketiah, some fans would be hoping a new No.9 could be recruited before the transfer window shuts on Friday.
Following the news of the injury to Gabriel Jesus, there is a more pressing need to provide support for Kai Havertz up front, especially if Nketiah is sold.
A loan deal could be considered. The likes of Victor Osimhen and Jonathan David have been linked in recent days but it remains to be seen if the London club have the finances to afford either player.
