Arsenal Remain Interested In £115M-Rated Striker As Contract Negotiations ‘Re-Open’

Arsenal have been linked with Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak, despite the fact that the Magpies don’t want to sell him.

The Gunners are yet to sign a striker this month despite the fact that they have been linked with RB Leipzig attacker Benjamin Sesko, and Wolves striker Matheus Cunha. But, they are yet to sign either, meaning that Isak still remains a target.

Arsenal have just one fit striker available, as Gabriel Jesus suffered an ACL injury earlier in the month, leaving just Kai Havertz up top.

The German has scored eight goals in 20 Premier League games this season. Arsenal are currently second in the table, six points off Liverpool.

Isak contract negotiations set to ‘re-open’

In a fresh update surrounding Arsenal’s pursuit of Alexander Isak, a report by the Telegraph has said that Newcastle are planning on re-opening contract negotiations with the Swedish striker in the summer.

It means that Arsenal would maybe push to begin talks with the player himself, in order to try and persuade him against a new contract at St James’ Park.

Negotiations with Isak stalled in the Autumn, sparking reports linking the striker with a move to the Emirates. However, Newcastle placed a £115m price tag on Isak, who they are reluctant to sell, as they are chasing a Champions League spot.

He has scored 17 goals in 21 Premier League games for the Magpies this season, and has been one of the most prolific goal scorers in world football over the past few months.

Arsenal call Premier League side to enquire about £80m striker

Isak isn’t the only Premier League striker that the Gunners are said to be interested in as both Wolves striker Matheus Cunha, and Aston Villa’s Jhon Duran have attracted interest.

The latter has been subject to reports this week, which say that Arsenal have enquired about Duran’s situation at Villa, as he has attracted recent bids by West Ham, which were rejected.

The Columbian is fighting with Ollie Watkins for first team football in Unai Emery’s striker position. However, he has impressed, scoring seven league goals this season.
