Arsenal Could Be Tempted To Sell Star For £60M After Arteta Makes Decision That Has “Shocked” Gunners Legend

Arsenal could contemplate selling goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale next summer if they receive an offer “in excess” of £60m, according to the Daily Mail.

The 25-year-old was dropped in favour of David Raya for the 1-0 win over Everton at the weekend, and rival clubs are said to be circling in case the England international becomes available.

It is believed that both Chelsea and Bayern Munich are keen on recruiting Ramsdale. The former only signed Robert Sanchez from Brighton in the summer, but they lost Kepa Arrizabalaga to Real Madrid and they are still on the lookout for another keeper.

Bayern, meanwhile, are seeking a long-term replacement for Manuel Neuer, who is now in his late 30s and has been recovering from a broken leg.

Ramsdale’s future at Arsenal is now uncertain

Ever since Raya joined from Brentford on an initial loan deal back in August, there has been speculation that the Spaniard would displace Ramsdale as the club’s number one.

During the international break, there were murmurings that manager Mikel Arteta was considering a change in goal but the decision to drop Ramsdale against Everton still came as a surprise to many, with Arsenal legend David Seaman saying he was “shocked” that the keeper was dropped on Sunday.

If the former Bournemouth and Sheffield United player is relegated to playing domestic cup games for the rest of the season, it could lead to his departure next year.

What has David Seaman said about Arteta’s decision to drop Ramsdale?

The Gunners legend has a good personal relationship with Ramsdale, having worked with him at the club’s training ground London Colney, and he can’t understand the decision to drop the shot-stopper:

“Aaron not in goal really shocked me if I’m honest. I find it hard to understand. I still can’t get my head around if they’re going to be swapping and chopping and changing the goalkeeper. I don’t like that from what it does at the back because the players have to get used to two different goalkeepers.”
