Arsenal Star Linked With Surprise Exit Just Months After Arriving For £20M

Napoli are lining up an approach for Arsenal defender Jakub Kiwior, according to the Corriere Dello Sport.

The Italian newspaper claims that the Polish international is struggling to make an impression at the Emirates and, due to limited opportunities, Napoli believe there is a chance that he could leave the Gunners.

Kiwior only made the £20m switch to London from Spezia during the January transfer window but he has made just six starts since his arrival, with eight appearances in total.

It remains to be seen what Arsenal’s response would be if Napoli do table a bid for the 23-year-old before the transfer window closes.

Arsenal have been linked with a couple of centre-backs in recent weeks

Uncertainty about Kiwior’s future does somewhat explain why the Gunners have been looking at centre-halves this summer.

A couple of weeks ago, reports in the Portuguese media suggested that Mikel Arteta’s side had enquired about the availability of Sporting Lisbon’s Ousmane Diomande.

Since then, the Italian press have also claimed, in more than one report, that the London club could challenge Fiorentina for the services of Dinamo Zagreb’s Josip Sutalo.

Kiwior remains part of the first-team squad

The Pole has taken a full part in pre-season, albeit his only starts have come out of position at left-back in games against Nuremberg and the MLS All-Stars.

For the time being, there is no suggestion that Arsenal are actively looking to sell, despite Napoli being keen to recruit him.

It should also be pointed out that the Serie A champions have been considering alternatives to Kiwior, with Wolves’ Max Kilman, Lens’ Kevin Danso and former Gunners defender Konstantinos Mavropanos on the club’s radar.

Gooner News exclusively revealed earlier this week that the Italian club are pursuing the Greek international, with Arsenal set to receive a financial windfall if he leaves Stuttgart.
