Arsenal Tracking £18m Rated Austrian Wingback But Face Stiff Competition From Inter

Arsenal are keen on Hertha Berlin right winger Valentino Lazaro, according to reports in Italy.

Inter Milan are believed to be in pole position to sign the Austrian international, but the Gunners and Paris Saint-Germain are also said to be in the mix.

Hertha Berlin have reportedly set a €20m (£18m) asking price for Lazaro, who was signed for only €6.5m a year ago.

The 23-year-old can play as a wingback, and would, therefore, fit well if manager Unai Emery opts to continue with three at the back next season.

It’s likely the same reason why Inter are involved in the battle to sign Lazaro with new manager Antonio Conte favouring the same system.

The Nerazzurri have already entered talks with Hertha, and are looking to secure the Austrian for €15m (£13.4m), but no deal has been agreed.

Whether Arsenal see a right wingback as a priority, it remains to be seen. Reports suggest the London club are locked in discussions with Saint-Etienne about signing centre-back William Saliba.
