Arsenal Told To Pay £26m After Enquiring About U17 World Cup Golden Ball Winner

Arsenal have entered the battle for Palmeiras winger Gabriel Veron, according to ESPN Brazil. It was claimed last week that Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea were all pursuing the Brazilian, but the Gunners have now also enquired about the player’s availability.

However, it is believed that another English club, Everton, are the only team to have made a formal bid so far, having had a €15m (£13m) offer turned down by Palmeiras.

Veron’s valuation is said to be €30m (£26m) with Palmeiras reportedly only owning 60% of the player, with his previous team Santa Cruz de Natal owning the other 40%.

The 17-year-old won the Golden Ball at last year’s Under 17 World Cup, after scoring three goals and providing three assists as Brazil won the tournament.

Veron has already made his first-team debut for Palmeiras at the end of last season, making three appearances and bagging his first two senior goals when he came on as a substitute against Goias in December.
