Arsenal To Target Tenerife’s Ayoze Perez

Arsenal To Target Tenerife’s Ayoze Perez

A new name has made Wenger’s wish-list. Despite being nowhere near as popular as the names Arsenal have been linked to, Ayoze Perez could represent an excellent future investment for the Gunners. The 20 year old Spaniard who is currently under contract with Tenerife made 37 appearances for his club in which he has managed to score 11 times up to now.

According to Metro, Arsenal are not the only ones interested in signing Ayoze who is also of interest to Everton. The Gunners’ interest in bringing in the young striker is a bit surprising considering his age and his background. Most of the footballers that end up in the Premier League are either raised by English clubs or have enough experience to handle the pressure. Tenerife’s striker does not fall under any of the two categories. Even so it appears there are some things that caught Wenger’s attention.

First off there is the Spaniard’s dedication towards one club. He has been with Tenerife since he began his career which is definitely a rare thing for the Spanish championships. Secondly, Ayoze is a name which made the list of several important clubs but somehow managed to avoid media coverage. Apparently he is currently being monitored by Schalke, Swansea, City and Sevilla who started looking into the 20 year olds’ performances at about the same time he was linked to Real Madrid. Ayoze was characterized by his coach as the best player whom he had the pleasure of working with. His transfer fee is well under what most strikers his age are now valued at and his efficiency in front of goal looks pretty promising. He would probably represent a good investment for the Gunners who currently lack fire power.
