According to Yahoo! Eurosport, Arsenal could be looking at Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko as a January target, after reports emerging from the Etihad Stadium have suggested the attacker is unhappy with the limited playing time he is being given by new manager Manuel Pellegrini.
The Gunners are in top form this season, and sit comfortably at the top of the Barclays Premier League with a five point lead over reigning champions Manchester United and 2 points over Liverpool. Arsene Wenger’s side have also been successful in their European campaign with a comfortable run in the UEFA Champions League. Manchester City have had a topsy turvy start to their campaign, with a decent position in the league, but losing to teams like Sunderland, who were at the foot of the Premier League table. Dzeko has become a fan favorite at the Etihad Stadium, but the consistent performances by Sergio Aguero have not left Pellegrini with an option to leave the Argentine star out. The arrival of Stevan Jovetic has not been as successful as anticipated, with the former Fiorentina star struggling to get his fitness up to speed in his short spell in England.
Wenger will be delighted with the start of Olivier Giroud’s season, with the Frenchman scoring on a regular basis to contribute in his team’s title quest. The former Montpellier player struggled in his first season at the club, but has seemingly adapted to the physically demanding nature of the Premier League. Also, with pass masters like Ozil, Wilshere and Ramsey in the side, Giroud is fed accurate assists to give him the best chance to score.
However, with the increasing number of games and fatigue, Wenger has realized that he will need to spend in January to keep their title hunt on, and Dzeko is one player who can create and finish goal scoring opportunities.
