Arsenal to Snatch Classy Chelsea and Liverpool Target

Riyad Mahrez is set to snub interest from Chelsea and Liverpool in order to sign for Arsenal.

The Algerian international, who played a vital role in Leicester City’s heroic 15/16 Premier League win, is widely reported to want a move away from the King Power this summer and Arsene Wenger is a known admirer of the winger and was heavily linked with a move for Mahrez last summer, who eventually committed to Leicester for another season.

Arsenal face stiff competition for Mahrez from all over Europe, but it is the clubs closer to home that have shown the most interest in the 26 year-old as Chelsea and Liverpool look to battle for his signature.

Both clubs will be playing Champions League football next season, unlike Arsenal, but according to Le Buteur Mahrez would be prepared to overlook the Champions League because he would prefer to play under Wenger.

Arsenal are on the lookout for a winger this summer with Alexis Sanchez and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain having uncertain futures at the club. Mahrez would certainly fit the bill and is said to be keen on a move to north London where there is a dressing room full of French speakers. Speaking last month, Wenger admitted that he was a fan of Mahrez but was quick to outline that no offer had been made for the player while Juventus have also been linked with a move for the skilful Algerian with a fee of around €40million mooted.
