Arsenal To Sign Unexpected Competitor For Giroud’s Striker Spot

According to The Mirror Wenger may have finally found the player he was looking for even before the 2013-2014 season began. Schalke’s Julian Draxler whose profile is similar to that of Ozil could become the next Van Persie as said by Wenger who believes the German international could do a lot better as a striker rather than as an attacking midfielder.

The Gunners might have to wait for this particular transfer to be finalized. Important moves like these take time and signing Draxler before the end of the Month is a very improbable scenario. Even so Wenger looks keen on placing a bid for the 20 year old who is currently one of the most promising youngsters playing in the Bundesliga.

It is said that Schalke will want to get at least £40 million for their star player which is £5million more than Arsenal are currently willing to offer. This will apparently be Wenger’s second attempt to secure Draxler’s signature after the Gunners decided to put negotiations on hold during the summer.

If the 20 year old decides to move to North London, Wenger could finally have the opportunity to try out different tactics which imply using two strikers. Draxler is expected to play alongside Giroud in order to increase the attacking line’s scoring rate which is pretty modest right now.
