Arsenal To Reignite Interest In Benzema

The north London side are targeting a new striker to strengthen their attacking options up front with only Olivier Giroud operating as an experienced centre-forward. The Frenchman has lacked competition to stake a claim in Arsenal’s starting eleven and Wenger is keen to recruit new faces in that particular position.

Arsene Wenger is targeting a move for Benzema, according to a report by the Telegraph. The 64-year-old has been unsuccessful in his attempts to lure Benzema to the Emirates in the past but he could finally land his man this summer.

The France international just has a solitary year remaining on his current contract and, if reports are to be believed, he could be allowed to leave the Bernabeu this summer. Much will also depend on whether Real Madrid can buy a new striker, with Liverpool forward Luis Suarez linked with a big money move to the Spanish capital.

Benzema will command a fee in the region of £30 million and Wenger is prepared to splash the cash as a forward, along with a holding midfielder, could make them the team to beat next season.
