According to Metro, Arsenal are looking to spend big this summer. After losing the Premier League title with only a few games to go, it seems Wenger is determined to make some important transfers. Probably the biggest name who made the Frenchman’s wanted-list is Real Madrid’s striker, Karim Benzema. The 26 year old is reportedly no longer a part of the Spanish side’s future plans despite his incredible abilities in front of goal. Hopefully, The Gunners will be the ones taking advantage of this situation just as they did with Ozil.

If Benzema decides to come to London he will pair up with fellow compatriots, Giroud, Koscielny, Sagna and Flamini who are more than likely to continue with the Londoners for the next few season. This would not be the first time Arsenal were trying to sign the striker. Apparently Wenger has been monitoring him since 2012 when rumors had it his relationship with Real’s management was not very tight.

Benzema may become a priority as all the other spots in the team have some sort of back-up plan. Giroud is the only one flying solo. After missing out on Draxler and Diego Costa who apparently are not interested in Arsenal, landing Benzema could be a great victory for Wenger. Unfortunately for the club, the Frenchman’s lack of trophies might make Real’s current striker think twice before considering an offer. It would be less motivating for a player to move from a Champions League team to a team which might not make the cut for the biggest football competition in the world.
