Arsenal To Make Move For Classy Midfielder?

The 27 year old Yoann Gourcuff, who has always been one of Wenger’s favorite players is set to leave France after spending three years wearing Lyon’s shirt. According to Metro, the Frenchman could head to London at the end of this month.

Even if Arsenal have made no public statement regarding their interest to sign the French international, many signs point toward the fact that Gourcuff is headed to the Emirates. Lyon’s president recently spoke about the player’s situation and insisted he will end up performing for one of Europe’s greats.

He would make a great addition for the Gunners especially considering the fact that his price has gone down more than expected during the past few weeks. Wenger is known for his excellent economic sense which makes Gourcuff the perfect target.

Despite having a great chance to finally land a player who was once considered too expensive by Arsenal’s manager, the club might pass on this opportunity. With Walcott’s 4 to 6 months absence, a striker must be Wenger’s priority. Even with a decent budget, the Gunners cannot afford to spend money on players who are not necessary at this particular point in time.
