Arsenal to make club record bid for £70 million rated Bundesliga star

Arsenal are set to launch a club record bid for Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, reports The Mirror.

The Gunners have already had a £45 million enquiry for the striker turned down by the Bundesliga club, but Arsenal are now set to return with a higher offer and are thought to be prepared to go higher than the £52 million paid for Alexandre Lacazette during the summer.

They could even include Olivier Giroud as part of the deal, with Dortmund keen to take on the striker and Giroud wanting more regular football ahead of the World Cup this summer in Russia.

Lacazette joined as a club record signing from Lyon last year, but despite scoring his 9th goal of the season at the weekend in a 4-1 victory over Crystal Palace, Arsene Wenger is already looking to provide the Frenchman with competition for his starting spot.

Aubameyang has already hit 21 goals this season in only 23 appearances for Dortmund, taking his total for the German club to 141 in just four-and-a-half seasons.

The Gabon international, who finished as the Bundesliga top scorer ahead of Robert Lewandowski last season, has previously been linked with a move to Manchester City and Chelsea, however it appears that is now Arsenal who lead the chase for the sought after striker.

Borussia Dortmund left Aubameyang out of their squad to face Hertha Berlin last week while negotiations are ongoing but an agreement is edging closer even though it is unlikely to be done imminently.
