According to Metro, Arsenal could finally get a new keeper. The Gunners have repeatedly been linked to several goalkeepers during the summer but none of the targets made it to London. Despite reaching an agreement with Szczesny to extend his contract, Wenger might still want to bring in some competition for the 23 year old Polish international.

Marc-Andre ter Stegen looks like the perfect solution. The 21 year old German international comes with a £7million price tag and excellent credentials. He has been Borussia Mönchengladbach’s number 1 even since he was 19 and has constantly improved his game since then. Unfortunately for Wenger, Arsenal are not the only team interested in securing the stopper’s signature. Barcelona have also been linked to Ter Stegen.

It is going to be really hard for the Gunners to snatch the 21 year old from the Catalans considering the fact that Barca will want to buy a keeper who is ready to take Valdes’s place. Arsenal on the other hand just secured Szczesny’s services for another 4 years which means ter Stegen might not be Wenger’s first option in the near future. With that in mind, it is hard to believe a player who refused to reach an agreement with his current team will leave for a club that is not willing to offer him a spot in their starting eleven.
