Arsenal To Be Investigated Over Player Transfer

Arsenal will be investigated by the Football Association for wrongful procedure in the signing of Calum Chambers from Southampton, but have not been given a clear explanation by the governing body about the reasons for the investigation, according to the Daily Mail.

Southampton have been one of the best talent producing sides in the Barclays Premier League, and Chambers is one of the best examples of the same. Joining the Saints in 2002 as a young boy, the defender was part of the youth academy for a decade until he was ready for the senior squad. Big clubs started noticing his rapid progress and Arsenal pounced on the opportunity to sign him in 2014. Having made 18 appearances and scoring one league goal, Chambers has certainly settled almost immediately since his move. His form was recognised by national coach Roy Hodgson, as Chambers made his debut for the Three Lions this season and now has a total of three international caps.

The Gunners have been astute in their transfer activities over the last few windows, and have only signed players at a bargain price where they see value through the future. With Arsenal’s club policy being the acquiring and nurturing of young players and integrate them in the first team, contracts are complex due to performance bonuses and other fine details that need to be discussed. The FA will announce in due course about the possibility of a loophole in the same.
