Arsenal To Battle Tottenham And Liverpool For £25.7m Rated Portuguese Talent

Arsenal are keeping tabs on Benfica forward Jota, according to reports in the English media.

The 19-year-old only made his first-team debut back in October but the Gunners are said to be weighing up a summer move for the teenager.

Jota has a release clause of €30m (£25.7m) which would have to be paid in order for Benfica to let go of one their most promising young talents.

However, the Gunners will have a fight on their hands to secure a deal for the Portuguese Under 21 international.

North London rivals Tottenham and league leaders Liverpool are also monitoring Jota’s progress after his breakthrough at senior level this campaign. Spurs even sent a representative to see him start his first game against Dinamo Zagreb last week.

In his four games for Benfica’s first team, the forward has yet to make an impact on the scoresheet, but most of his appearances have been brief cameos.

Jota has also played for Benfica B in Portugal’s second division this season, playing 17 matches, scoring seven and laying on six assists.
