Arsenal To Address Injury Issue

Arsene Wenger has decided to increase the team’s staff and also try and fix one of Arsenal’s biggest problems. According to the Daily Mail, the Frenchman has signed a new sports performance specialist who will be working with Arsenal’s current head of performance enhancement. It seems that he will be taking on some of Shad Forsythe’s responsibilities and will focus mostly on strength and conditioning. Barry Solan who is now involved with Mayo GAA is expected to start working at the beginning of the domestic competition which is not extraordinary news, given the fact that he will miss all of Arsenal’s training.

The two could make a good team considering they have worked together before. Both were employed by EXOS which is a company focused on sports performance. Solan has little pressure on his shoulders knowing how bad things are at the Emirates. Injuries have cost Arsenal a lot and have managed to ruin one of the best Premier League teams seen in years. Season after season players were ruled out due to health issues which were mostly reoccurring. Diaby is the perfect example of how wrong things can go. Wilshere is not too far behind either being benched on several occasions due to a series of injuries that somehow seem related. Walcott, Arteta and Debuchy will also be a challenge for the new appointed strength and conditioning coach who hopefully could make things work and improve on that in the seasons to come. No one expects him to turn things around instantly but it would be nice to see some improvement in time after years of injury packed football.
