Arsenal Target Suarez Wants To Play For Premier League Crown

Arsenal target, Luis Suarez, has spoken about his recent transfer speculation, and conceded that he has a willingness to progress on to the next level, and play with a squad that was capable of challenging for the Premier League title.

Arsene Wenger has declared that the club will be bidding for the best players available for a transfer, and given Suarez’s unsettled nature at the club, the Frenchman did make a reported £30 million bid for the striker, which was outright rejected. Wenger has been looking to strengthen his strike force in the past few months, but has failed to strike a deal with clubs over transfers.

26-year old Suarez began his career at native side Nacional, where he was initially a youth academy player, but signed a professional contract in 2005. His journey in Netherlands began at Groningen, where he spent just one season before being signed by giants Ajax in 2007. The striker showed golden form at the Amsterdam Arena, scoring 81 goals in 110 appearances for the club. Suarez made the move to Liverpool in 2011 from Ajax, and has performed exceptionally for the club, scoring 38 Premier League goals in 77 appearances.

Suarez has been subject to a considerable amount of criticism from the English press for the controversies that the striker has been involved in, and the Uruguayan has complained that the press made life difficult for his family, leaving no option but to leave the country. In an unfortunate turn of events, the striker was spotted biting Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic in a Barclays Premier League fixture last season, which led to the striker being given a 10 match ban by the Football Association (FA).

The striker recently ruled out a move to Chelsea, but welcomed Arsenal’s interest in signing him. With Olivier Giroud not firing on all cylinders in his first season at the club, Suarez’s arrival could spur the Frenchman to fight for his place in the first team, and in-turn perform better by creating more competition for spots.

According to SkySports, Suarez said, “If I receive an important offer to progress my career, I will study it. Some clubs have asked about me but I hand questions over to my agent. I am no stranger to rumors.”

“I always want to improve. That’s why I left Ajax for Liverpool.”

“But this club needs to fight to enter the Champions League and, when it doesn’t happen, it damages the morale of any player. So I’ve suffered.”

“It is hard to view the Premier League every week with never a chance of winning it.”

So more to come on this one then to say the least…
