Arsenal Target Reveals “Several Clubs” Want To Sign Him Ahead Of £50m Summer Transfer Battle

RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano has confirmed that he is aware of interest from a number of clubs. The Frenchman has less than eighteen months remaining on his contract and is expected to be sold at the end of the season.

Arsenal, Manchester City, Bayern Munich and Barcelona have all been linked with the 21-year-old in recent months and the centre-back fanned the flames regarding a summer switch by stating he will consider his options:

“There are several clubs that want me. I will speak with my agents and my parents at the end of the season and we will make the right decision.”

Upamecano reportedly has a £50m release clause, and with the player unlikely to sign a new deal, Leipzig are believed to be prepared to let him go in the summer to prevent him from running down his contract.

The Gunners were said to be interested in the France Under 21 international before the start of the season, but with William Saliba returning from his loan spell at Saint-Etienne in July, and having signed Pablo Mari from Flamengo in January, it remains to be seen if they will revive their interest in the Bundesliga defender.
