Arsenal Target Move For £40m Rated French Marksman As Arteta Plans Summer Overhaul

Arsenal are interested in signing Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard as part of a sizeable overhaul of the squad in the summer, according to the Daily Mail.

The France Under 21 international, who has been valued at £40m by BT Sport pundit Chris Sutton, has scored 23 goals in 37 appearances for his club this season, including eight goals in his last six league games.

Edouard is one of three players that head coach Mikel Arteta is said to be targeting this summer, with Leicester’s James Maddison and RB Leipzig’s Dayot Upamecano also on the club’s wishlist.

The trio would dramatically alter the shape of the squad, but it remains to be seen whether the Gunners would have the funds to finance deals for all three players.

Maddison, who has also been heavily linked with Manchester United, is believed to be valued at £80m by Leicester with the Foxes playmaker also reportedly closing in on a new contract.

Upamecano, meanwhile, could well be available at a discount, with the Frenchman’s current deal expiring in 2021, but Arsenal are said to be battling Bayern Munich for his signature.
