Wenger is expected to make a bid for Loris Karius who is seen by most like the biggest competition current German incumbent Manuel Neuer will have over the next couple of years. The 21 year old who is currently under contract with Mainz is not low on offers after managing to impress teams like Schalke, Dortmund and Valencia. Arsenal might seem the most appealing though, given Wenger’s well-known affinity for investing in youngsters like Karius. The best part about this possible transfer is that it will not cost much and it may well pay off big time. The keeper will end his contract this summer and has refused to sign any extension upto this time. The U21 German international has a lot of teams lining up to get his signature and has already refused Benfica according to Metro.

Arsenal should push for this transfer especially because of the great opportunity it represents. It is not only a cost effective move but it is also a pretty good looking bet. Karius will have no problem acclimatising given his past. The 21 year old spent time playing for Manchester City’s academy where he made himself noticed and managed to land a deal with Mainz. Szczesny and Ospina will have their work cut out for them if Karius joins Arsenal. He is extremely talented and has the potential of even taking Neuer’s spot which says a lot about how good this youngster is.
