Arsenal Target Ex Aston Villa Flop As Arteta Eyes Competition For Kieran Tierney

Arsenal are interested in snapping up Marseille left-back Jordan Amavi, along with several other clubs, according to TMW.

The Italian website reports that the Gunners are considering signing the former Aston Villa player on a free transfer when his contract expires in the summer.

Amavi did not have the best of times during his last spell in England, having been part of a Villa side that was relegated to the Championship in 2015/16. However, he missed most of that season due to injury and was a regular during their first campaign in the second tier.

The Frenchman was subsequently loaned out to Marseille before moving to the Ligue One side on a permanent basis. He has spent three and a half years in the south of France but he looks almost certain to leave when his current deal ends in June.

With Sead Kolasinac unlikely to stay at the Emirates, even after his loan spell at Schalke, Arsenal are said to be looking for cover at left-back to take some of the load off Kieran Tierney. Amavi could be a cheap option, although there is thought to be competition from the likes of Napoli, AC Milan and a few Premier League clubs for his signature.
