Arsenal are weighing up a move for Borussia Dortmund defender Dan-Axel Zagadou, according to the Mirror.
The 6ft 5in centre-back impressed club scouts after captaining France at the Under 20 World Cup earlier this month. He scored in the 2-0 win over Panama in the group stages, but could not help prevent his side being knocked out in the last 16 by the USA.
Zagadou joined Dortmund on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain in 2017, and he has gone on to establish himself in the first team at the Bundesliga club.
The 20-year-old was, however, limited to just 22 appearances last season following a broken metatarsal as well as suffering a knee injury.
Zagadou’s natural position is at centre-half but he has been utilised at left-back by Dortmund. Naturally left-footed, he would be comfortable in a three-man backline.
Gunners boss Unai Emery used a 3-5-2 formation pretty regularly last season and it’s no surprise that the club are looking at players who could fit into that system.
